BOOM -The Atomic War Card Game
Invented in 1965, BOOM is a retro ’50s - early ’60s tongue-in-cheek Atomic War Card Game for 2 - 8 players.
While deceptively easy, quick, and fun to play, BOOM is a biting satire of one of our biggest fears.
Although the game really is an ANTI-atomic war card game, it recaptures the Espionage, Pacifist versus Hawk Ideologies, Propaganda, rumors of a Doomsday Machine, Assassinations, and many other Cold War tactics in a nostalgic, darkly humorous, but also very deadly way.
The game's winner often is a loser, thus proving that war—especially one with Weapons of Mass Destruction—is not very nice!
Even the bucktooth cow standing in an empty field (worth zero population) would agree! Moof!

BOOM ran a successful Kickstarter Campaign in December, 2025 and now is for sale on TheGameCrafter.com at

SherCo Grand Slam Baseball Game
"The Most Fun to Play" (since 1968)
Brought to market in 1968, SherCo was the first game to feature ballpark diagrams that factored into the outcome of plays. (I had invented a protype when I was 12 years old, playtested with a neighbor, brought it with me to the Navy and further refined it while in college).
It was the first game, and remains to this day the only one, with a “stop-action” system that allows you to watch every play unfold on the table-top by positioning fielders and plot the ball.
SherCo also was the fiirst game to rate the offensive and defensive capabilities of every player who appeared in at least one MLB game.
As added bonuses, SherCo was the first game to provide the official rating formulas for free so that you could rate any team for which you had the proper stats.
It was the first game with an optional WInd Factor that could blow a fair ball foul, or a foul ball fair, or turn a home run into a long fly out or add distance to a fly ball to turn it into a homer or double.
And it was the first game with an Automatic Umpire to rule on close plays and answer gameplay questions with a "Yes" or "No."
Since 1968, SherCo has been considered "The Most Fun to Play" tabletop baseball game.
In 2016, I formed a partnership with Brien Martin of Hot Stove Games. He gave SherCo a new look and feel, changing the game's basic color scheme, its logo, and even the typeface of the materials. Using the best data available, every ballpark diagram was re-designed and re-created to ensure the best and most accurate representations of all stadia in the game’s history.
A set of deluxe stadium charts, with each 784-square chart on an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet or on cardstock in pre-printed version, was big enough to play on using small beads or markers.
Annual season sets came with the purchase of a complete game or as a separate purchase.
All-time favorite seasons were available with the new re-launch: 1927, 1930, 1941, 1956, and 1962.
Re-creations of SherCo’s “Teams of Yesteryear” sets, the best teams from each decade, starting from 1900-1909 through 1980-1990 was our “Vintage SherCo Collection”, scanned from my original materials and sold exactly as they were by SherCo from 1975-1995.
I created the “SLOBS” Manual ("SherCo Leagues Of Baseball Simulation"), a how-to guide to starting and maintaining a short-season league for both real-life players and fictional players. The 39-page guide includes all of the rules to follow, plus the basic forms, tables, and charts needed to create your own "Robert Coover-like" SherCo universe!
Two sets of Negro League teams (with their stadiums) and "The Worst of The Worst" teams set were also added to the growing SherCo product inventory.
On September 1, 2025, the 100th monthly SherCo e-newsletter, the ROSTER, was emailed to all customers, and posted on the SherCo Forum and the Delphi Tabletop Sports Forum. It was a tradition resurrected shortly after I partnered with Brien.
My biggest and most exciting addition to the "new" SherCo , however, was my creation of a new version of the game entitled SherCo PLUS. It uses a base-36 dice system, whereas the original SherCo "Classic" reads the dice in 21 ways. This innovation added greater statistical accuracy and more exciting (and sometimes, unusual) results to probable hits and probable outs.

The first copy of SherCo (circa1968) was mailed in a Manila envelope.

Versions #2a and 2b - (Left), cardboard mailer with large cardboard playing field, and ballplayer on yellow paper wheat-pasted onto front of mailer. (Right), Name was changed to Roman number 2 (II), and "Simulation" (not a game) was added. Clip art shows players on the unique SherCo playing grid playing (AKA, stadium), and the "stop action" movement of players.

(Clockwise, upper left):
1) The infamous "Jelly Bean" box as SherCo went from "simulation" back to "baseball" and a radical color change: pink and mint green, black and white. 2) Back I go to BASE-BALL SIMULATION (with a hyphen in "baseball" and no mention of SherCo). However, clever imagery captured the "stop action" effect, and I like the ball jumping off the box as the "O" in "simulation."
3) A name change to Sherco's Grand Slam Baseball Game with elements (stop action ball players, big baseball) from other designs, and black on "school bus" yellow! Only change since then is capital "C" in SherCo, and complete remake by Brien.

The current version of SherCo Classic and SherCo PLUS.
Amazing Space Venture, My Second Game Marketed

ASV came out in 2007, under the SherCo Games brand. It was my second attempt at sharing a creation with the gaming community.
I hired an intern artist, a game company to print and warehouse 1,000 games, and a distributor to sell them nationwide and internationally to retailers. I supported the effort with ads on Board Game Geek and other game publications, attended game conferences dressed as an alien, and learned a heck of a lot about the gaming industry.
Many of the game's cards were named after family members, and there was a lot of "gotcha" and strategy - placing tiles while flying around a 2x3-foot, black-as-space game board in a spaceship, discovering new planets with viable life forms and environments.

I have a few "mint" ASV games in my garage. If you'd like to buy an autographed copy for $45 (p&h included for USA residents), let me know.

You Never Know
How or When
Creativity Strikes
But When It Does
SEIZE IT!
The idea for this Read-Aloud Picture Bedtime Story for kids ages 3 came to me while driving home after visiting relatives in Connecticut.
By the time I arrived in Delaware, I had created a short story-poem with emphasis on using a figure of speech called sibilance - a hissing sound through the repetition of "S" sounds.
Parents were advised at the beginning of my book to maximize their child's enjoyment by reading the book aloud while emphasizing the "S' sssound throught. That just ssseemed right for a ssstory about a sssilly, ssslithery sssnake!

HERE ARE TWO 'MUST READ' BASEBALL BOOKS
Read What Reviewers Are Saying:
5.0 out of 5 stars "Most Fun to Read!"
Both books are not only for SherCo or baseball fans, but also for board game enthusiasts, and those interested in the growth and development of a mail-order business from a kitchen tablet to a nationally recognized, 56-year success!
The greatest thing that I got from reading these two books is they perfectly describe why this 63-old big kid plays SherCo every day for 8 months a year. "We do not stop playing because we get old...We get old because we stop playing."
I’ve become a born again SherCo Grand Slam fanatic....Even if you never played SherCo but still love tabletop baseball games, you'll love this book.
